FAQ Answers

Assignment lengths, pay rates & benefit programs

Do you specialize 4, 8, or 13-week assignments?
The vast majority of our clients are looking for 13 week travelers, but we do get shorter term assignments occasionally.

What are the pay ranges on your assignments?
Our current assignments offer pay rates ranging from $27/hour to $42/hour or more, depending on the critical nature of the hospital’s needs and the difficulty in finding a nurse to fill those needs.

Do you offer medical, dental, and/or vision coverage?
Currently we offer full medical coverage through Anthem and dental coverage through Dental Care Plus. We also offer various coverage options through Aflac.

Do you offer a 401k program? Not yet, but we will soon.  Stay tuned.

Travel & Housing

Do you fly travelers to their assignments?
Of course!  But it depends on the needs of the traveler.  Some travelers want to take their own car or RV to their assignment and we offer them a travel subsidy in that case.

Do you offer private or shared housing?
Private! We never ask you to share housing!

Do you offer rental cars?
Of course!  Unless you don’t need one, in which case we can probably offer you a higher pay rate or a stipend of some kind.

Do you make my travel arrangements for me or is that my responsibility?
This is entirely up to you.  In most cases we handle the arrangements for our travelers. However, there are significant tax free earnings opportunities if you act as your own travel agent.  Ask us about the Tax Advantage Program.

Facilities

What types and sizes of facilities are you currently staffing?
We currently have contracts and assignments in large and small facilities, ranging from 25-500+ beds, Level I, II and III trauma center, rural, community hospitals to large teaching facilities.

Pay schedules & distribution methods

Do you pay weekly or bi-weekly?
We pay all travelers weekly, and cut paychecks on Thursdays.

What day will I receive my pay check?
Most of our travelers receive their pay via direct deposit.  Direct deposits are posted Thursday night at Midnight and are available Friday morning in most cases, depending on YOUR BANK’S promptness.

Do you send live paychecks or do you direct deposit?
What would you prefer?  We’ll do it either way.

Do I have my choice?
Absolutely!

Problem Resolution

What will you do if I do not receive my paycheck?
You will receive your paycheck on time, every time.  We’ve never had a traveler not receive their paycheck.  In the unlikely event that you do not receive your paycheck, we will add 5% to your paycheck to compensate you for the inconvenience and overnight it to you.

Do you have any outstanding disputes with travelers regarding pay?
Not one!

Hospital Size

What is the hospital size?
Varies from assignment to assignment.

What type of hospital is offering this assignment?
Relative to the assignment they’re talking with you about.

Assigned recruiters or random assistance

How many recruiters do you have on staff?
We have 6 full time recruiters on staff.

How many travelers is each recruiter responsible for?
Currently, our recruiters are handling about 10-20 travelers each.  They are fully capable of handling 40-50 at which point we will hire more.  We will not sacrifice the service we provide to our travelers.

If I travel with your company will I have an assigned recruiter from the start?
Absolutely!

Will that recruiter remain with me over multiple assignments?
Absolutely!  Unless you’d prefer someone else.

Do you have a travel department that is staffed separately from your recruiters?
Your recruiter will handle your travel arrangements via our travel department.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with my travel and/or housing arrangements?
Your recruiter.

Who do I contact if I have a problem with my pay?
Your recruiter.

Who do I contact if I have a problem that I can’t resolve with my recruiter?
Your recruiter is empowered and expected to solve any problem you have.
If at any time you are not getting satisfying results via your recruiter, you are always welcome to call and speak to our President and CEO, Ken Wead.   At Health Force we believe that there are very few problems that cannot be remedied if we work together to find a happy resolution.

Assignment details before/after completed application

Will you talk to me before I fill out an application?
Of course!  We’ll share our assignment locations, specialties, and pay ranges.

How much paperwork am I required to fill out before you will share assignment details with me?
A resume, skills checklist and 2 references are all we require.  We will even accept paperwork that you have already completed for another agency.  If you do not have a resume, you can fill out our standard application, which can be downloaded at www.Health-Force.com. Once you register online, you’ll be able to access the application, skills checklists, as well as useful articles to help you get the most out of your travel experience.

Credit check policies

Am I required to authorize a credit check as part of your application process?
Absolutely not! Your credit is your business.  Not ours.
Guaranteed hours & availability of overtime

Do your assignments have guaranteed hours?
Yes.  In ALL cases.

What if I don’t receive my guaranteed hours?
You will.  Or your recruiter will call the hospital and fix the problem.

Am I required to work overtime on your assignments?
Not unless you would like to.  But many of our travelers want and get as much overtime as they can handle.

Will I ever be scheduled for more overtime than what is stated in my contract?
Again, only if you want more.

What if I want more overtime than I am getting?
Consult your nurse manager or ask your recruiter to call the hospital and see if it’s possible.

Float requirements

What if I am asked to float to a floor/unit that I have not worked before?
Your recruiter will call the hospital and fix the problem immediately.  We will not allow a hospital to schedule you on a floor or unit where you don’t have experience.

Any way you’d like.

Can I choose my pay rate?
Absolutely!

For example, if you took an ICU position that we have in Vermont, I can pay you $30 per hour with private housing, flight and rental car.  If you choose to drive I can offer you $35-36 per hour, and if you choose to have your housing subsidy built into your pay rate as well we can pay as much as $40-42 per hour.

Absolutely!

What are my choices?
We can fly you there or you can drive yourself.

For example, on most assignments we can fly you there, give you a travel stipend to drive yourself, or pay you more on the hour.

Can I select my housing arrangements?
Absolutely!

What are my choices?
You can choose private, which we offer standard, shared, if you’re traveling with a friend, or you can choose no housing at all if you’re staying with a friend or taking an RV.

How will my choice of housing affect other elements of my assignment?
We can always modify your pay rate to accommodate your housing choices
Tax Savings Programs

Do you offer the Tax Advantage Program?
Absolutely!

What will you pay on an assignment under this program?
Tell us the assignment(s) you’re interested in and we’ll give you the exact hourly rate we can pay you.

What elements of the assignment are my responsibility?
If you choose to participate in the Tax Advantage Program, you will be responsible for your travel, housing, and rental car in return for significant tax free money.

What elements of the assignment remain your responsibility?
We handle the relationship with the hospital, making sure your assignment is going as planned, and we resolve any and all issues that may arise.

The Bottom Line

Why should I travel with your company?
We’re not like other companies at all.  We came from the fastest growing healthcare staffing company in the industry, and we looked at everything we didn’t like and committed ourselves to doing it better.   We pay more attention to our travelers than any other company out there.  We don’t juggle you around from department to department to get your questions answered.  Every one of our recruiters is accountable and empowered to resolve any issue you may have and will always be HONEST with you.
At Health Force we do not believe in bait-and-switch tactics to get your attention, we never boast about what we can offer you on particular assignments, and we will always deliver on everything we promise, AND WE’LL PUT IT IN WRITING IN YOUR CONTRACT.

Our entire focus is on you, and helping you get the most out of your assignment.

How are you different from all of the other travel companies?
With Health Force you’re not just a number; not just one traveler out of hundreds or thousands.  You’re a professional with unique needs that relies on us.  We take that trust very seriously and we work to show you that we’re the best choice you ever made in a travel staffing firm.

What will I get with your company that I won’t get with others?
Complete and total honesty. More personal attention than you ever thought possible from a recruiter.  Dedication to getting you as much of what you’re looking for as possible.  A live person on the phone when you need one.  A return phone call within 2 hours during normal business hours.  And finally, a company that focuses more on it’s people than it’s profits.  We believe that by being above-board and honest, taking care of our travelers, by giving you our fullest attention and providing the very best service, you’ll come back time after time.

Are you willing to provide me with the names and contact information of 3 travelers that I can contact for a reference?  Do you have something to write with?  Here are the names of a few of our travelers.  For security reasons, we cannot post their contact information on our website.  Please call your recruiter for the contact information for each of the travelers listed below.
